The new autumn/winter edition of Vale Life is now in circulation, continuing its quiet but confident role as a platform for independent voices, local enterprise and well-told stories from across the Vale of Glamorgan. The Vale is the most southerly county in Wales and is a breathtaking mix of stunning coastline, beaches and rolling countryside.
For those involved in writing, publishing and creative work, Vale Life offers a useful reminder that strong storytelling isn’t limited to books. Each issue is carefully shaped around real people, real businesses and real places – and this winter’s edition is no exception.

The cover features Chloe Francis-Oakley, owner of Cobbles Kitchen & Deli in Ogmore-by-Sea, returning nearly ten years after first appearing as a Vale Life cover star in winter 2016. Her story is one of perseverance, growth and adaptability, reflecting the realities many independent business owners – and creatives – will recognise. The feature runs across pages 12 to 17 and captures the kind of long-form, considered storytelling that print still does best.

Edited by Jennifer Hobbs-Roberts, the autumn/winter issue explores the character of the Vale in an unforced, authentic way – from coastal villages such as Rhoose and Ogmore-by-Sea, through to Cowbridge, Llantwit Major, Pontyclun, Penarth and Dinas Powys. It’s a portrait of a place shaped as much by its people as by its landscape.
Jennifer Hobbs-Roberts said: “At its heart, Vale Life is about telling stories properly. Whether it’s a business, a place or a person, we take time to understand what makes it tick. That same approach underpins the writing and publishing work I do with authors and businesses beyond the magazine.”

Alongside editing and publishing Vale Life, Jennifer provides professional writing services for businesses and works closely with authors to help develop, produce and publish their books. Through Books Life and Good Life Publishing, she supports projects at every stage – from shaping an initial idea or manuscript through to finished publication.
For authors and creatives, Vale Life stands as a reminder of the value of well-crafted editorial, strong collaboration and giving stories the space they deserve. The new autumn/winter issue is available now.
